Grass covers most of the ground in The Forest. There are numerous types of grasses that can be found, and unlike other small plants they cannot be interacted with. Grass can protrude through buildings and floors which can be quite frustrating. Using console commands, you can cut grass though it may grow through again when saving and reloading. It is possible to clear grass using rock paths or basic fires, though be careful not have these protrude through your floors as well. As of update v0.11, the grass density can be adjusted using a slider in the options menu (Grass density can not be adjusted on PS4)

Grass is one of the resources randomly generated at the start of the game. It grows on soil and can be eaten directly by animals or cut with a blade or scythe to produce Cut Grass, leaving behind roots that will regrow after 45 seconds. To remove grass from a tile and turn it back into a soil tile, use a spade on it.
Grass is not to be confused with Turf, the grassy-looking tile type. You cannot cut turf to get grass and animals cannot graze on it.
